Membership in the UNESCO-UNEVOC Network
The Chamber of Skilled Crafts Ostwestfalen-Lippe zu Bielefeld is part of UNESCO’s global UNEVOC Network, joining 244 institutions across 152 countries that are committed to promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
This membership provides new opportunities for international exchange and collaboration on forward-thinking vocational education projects. Global challenges—ranging from digitalization and sustainable business practices to addressing skills shortages—require innovative solutions. Through the UNEVOC Network, the Chamber of Skilled Crafts OWL can work with international partners to bring fresh ideas and perspectives to vocational training.
The UNEVOC Network supports the development of TVET systems worldwide, facilitates knowledge transfer among its member institutions, and promotes equal opportunities and sustainable development in vocational education. By joining the network, the Chamber of Skilled Crafts OWL strengthens its role as a key player in the international education dialogue, enhancing both its training programs and the competitiveness of the regional skilled crafts sector.

Inauguration Ceremony
On April 17, high-ranking representatives of UNESCO presented the UNEVOC plaque to the OWL Chamber of Crafts in Bielefeld during a festive ceremony at the Campus Handwerk. In the presence of Dr. Friedrich Huebler, head of the UNESCO-UNEVOC network, the Chamber of Crafts was officially accepted into the international network. The network of the UNESCO International Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (UNEVOC) supports technical and vocational training worldwide in 152 countries with 244 institutions. In addition to global networking, the focus is always on sustainability.

ASSET – AI for skills, sustainability and training
Addressing the growing need for AI integration in TVET, this project will develop a multilingual, modular, browser-based self-learning course tailored for TVET educators. Developed using LiaScript, the course is designed to be modular, low-bandwidth-compatible and adaptable to diverse institutional contexts. Activities will upskill 60+ educators across three countries and foster a community of practice. The project envisions a scalable model for inclusive, AI-enabled teacher training worldwide.
